Please Pay for your Balls

Got balls?  Not every company has a PA system, and when they do it can be a belly fat producing stress hormone  generating tradgedy, or not-so-often, a source of great amusement.  I worked at a telecom company that had personal trainers and group exercise classes, free clothing and lots of swag…until the crunch time came, when we had to start bringing in our own pens from home if we wanted to do our jobs.  The sweetest admin type girl got on the PA one day and announced over the loudspeaker that everyone “Please purchase your balls”.  She was referring of course, to the only recreation we had left…all hail the ping pong table.  Man that was the most fantastic announcement during a “work hard and be scared of layoffs” time ever.

Point being– our mental, emotional and physical health has a VALUE and you can’t expect your employers to take responsibility for your health and wellness.  YOU are the driver your vehicle that is your body.  If you’re not able to motivate (because you’re probably wiped out from work), you are not alone and it’s ok.  It’s more intelligent to recognize that you need some accountability, or mindset, or motivation or guidance doing exercises that won’t make your achy back hurt worse.  You deserve and are allowed to take care of yourself.  The years FLY by and to live them in a broken aching body is like not being able to play ping pong because you’re holding onto someone else’s damaged dented balls :).
